Nico Robin is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates. She was originally introduced as the Vice President of Baroque Works known as Miss All Sunday before joining up with the Straw Hats. She is the seventh member of the crew, the sixth to join, and the second to rejoin, doing so during the Enies Lobby story arc. She was also the first member to have been a former villain. She ate the Hana Hana no Mi. During the Post-War arc, she became involved with the Revolutionaries for two years. Her dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph which tells the True History.

Nico Robin is a tall, slender yet athletic woman with shoulder length black hair. Her eyes are brown both in the manga and the 10th movie, but are blue in the anime with dark and wide pupils, and she has a very characteristic plain nose. Robin's limbs are somewhat long, especially her legs, contributing greatly to both her fighting capabilities (given the nature of her powers) and overall height, and like most female characters in the series, she has a narrow waist. Many people consider her attractive. Robin is probably the most complex dresser next to Nami. She has no trademark look like the others, though her all purple cowgirl look from when she was first introduced is often associated as her trademark look. She frequently wears somewhat revealing clothing that is either dark in color (often black or purple) or consisting of leather, sometimes both. She seems to be fond of revealing outfits and high heels. Robin sometimes wears a gold arm band with white strings attached to it and the letter N on it, which stands for her family name; she has also worn a cowgirl hat on numerous occasions. In the anime, Robin's skin tone is slightly darker unlike in manga coloured artworks where it is lighter. Robin also resembles her mother greatly, with the exception of her hair color and style as well as having slightly darker skin tone than her.
In the Arabasta arc, she wore a skimpy cowgirl outfit consisting of a purple cleavage-exposing top and matching miniskirt, both with white ornaments hanging from them, and a white fur-lined coat paired with a white cowboy hat and white high-heeled boots.
In the Skypiea arc, she still wore her trademark white cowboy hat, along with a yellow sleeveless shirt and purple pants reaching to her calves, with a simple belt around her waist, and purple high-heeled sandals. She sported her white ornament on her left arm.
In the Water 7/Enies Lobby arc, she wore a short, cleavage-revealing leather dress with long sleeves over what looked like a lighter, white polka-dotted under dress. She also wore black thigh high-heeled boots.
In the Post-Enies Lobby arc, she was seen wearing a tight-fitting, red t-shirt that has the Galley-La emblem at the front and a pair of black trousers. She also wore a pair of white high-heeled shoes. Later, she replaced the t-shirt with a tight, pinstriped purple buttoned sweater and dark high-heeled shoes.
In the Thriller Bark arc, she wore a short purple dress with lace embroidered edges, stockings reaching up to her thighs held up by suspenders, and black high-heeled boots with two lines of buttons on the front.
In the Spa Island arc, Robin was seen wearing a white bikini top with pink straps and ruffles lined at the base of her front. She also had a yellow towel draped around her waist.
In the Sabaody Archipelago arc, she wore a black (purple in the anime) outfit consisting of a cowboy hat, a cleavage-revealing sleeveless shirt, with a wide, yellow collar covered with black concentric circle motifs, matching pants reaching down to her calves, and high-heeled shoes. She also had a string of round and yellow ornaments that hung loosely from around her waist.
After the two year time-skip, Robin's hair goes past her shoulders and is pulled back, revealing more of her forehead. Her outfit after the timeskip now consists of a long pink sari-like skirt with a partially-zipped purple leather vest with a V neck line similar to Boa Hancock's, sunglasses, pink high-heels, and a pink backpack. And like Nami, her breasts have gotten larger.
The author has also replied to a fan's question to saying that right now Robin's measurements are as follows:
- Height: 188 cm (6'2"), making her the third tallest member of the Straw Hat Pirates.
- Her 3 measurements are (according to Sanji and series creator Oda in supplemental material) B99-W59-H89 (38"-23"-36"),[3] making her breasts an I-cup in Japan.
According to Oda, Robin most resembles a crane, is represented by the color purple, and she smells of flowers.[4]

Through her heritage on the island of scholars, Nico Robin is an archaeologist and historian, who joins the Straw Hat pirates. She seeks the comfort and freedom to study the mysteries of the world. She is the quiet, reserved crew member, rarely showing emotions or having outburst of emotions (occasional exceptions being sweat drops, and when she cried out to Luffy and the Straw Hats from the Tower of Justice during the Enies Lobby arc), and as such, is the only crew member to have no face faults. Robin even appears calm at times towards her crew mates, often speaking ominously around them. She has a somewhat macabre side to her, and often points gross or morbid facts, usually to the disgust of Nami or Usopp.
Examples include:
- When Nami asks if Zoro was eaten by the skyshark, she says that the clouds would be turning red if he was.
- When Nami is forced to swing on a rope past the skysharks, Robin says the height is about 50 meters and she would die if she fell.
- Zoro and Nami return to the Going Merry in Skypiea but they cannot find Chopper, who was guarding the ship. Robin remarks that he may have been "shredded to pieces".
- When Chopper is taken by the Foxy Pirates during a Davy Back Fight, Nami asks if Foxy is a collector of rare pets. Robin says, "Hopefully not a collector of rare pelts".
- When the crew decide on the name "Thousand Sunny" for their new ship, Robin says that she was going to suggest the "Being of Darkness".
- On Thriller Bark, she voluntarily investigates the Ghost Island with Luffy and Franky. She told Nami that she "likes thrills".
- As Nami screams while testing the Mini-Merry II on Thriller Bark, Robin remarks that she may have been cursed by a ghost.
- While the Strawhats are looking for Nami, Chopper and Usopp at the Ghost Island, Robin says that they are not even able to hear their voices anymore, wondering if they were strangled.
- When they are attacked by the Cerberus on Thriller Bark, Robin says that she finds it "cute".
- While searching for a way to reach Fishman Island in the shark submarine, Robin, Luffy and Brook encounter a giant sea monster that attacks them which resulted in Robin amusingly commenting on his big mouth that could swallow them instead of worrying about the situation.
- When Luffy's group went out to beat the kraken and lost their way back to the ship she commented that hopefully they weren't ripped to shreds by some monster.
She speaks only if something noteworthy happens. When she does, she has been shown to possess an outstanding knowledge, especially in history. Her calmness is likely a result of the childhood that led to her life of hardship. The calamity that befell Ohara had a profound and traumatizing effect on Robin as a child, that she has only just begun to recover from.
She will not understand why people regard history as meaningless. To her, there is nothing worse than destroying objects of historical significance. She approaches life and the world at large in a calm manner. She studies the world for its history. She shows little interest in the Ancient Weapons that others such as Crocodile and Spandam seek. However, she might be the only one who is able to awaken them.
During battle, Robin tends to maintain a relaxed demeanor that only seems to change whenever the circumstances proved to be beyond her capacity to cope (i.e. a hopeless situation); more often than not, she would exhibit unshakable calmness and reserved behavior against an inferior adversary, to the point where she typically displays by using her powers to satisfy minor necessities (i.e. using a pair of arms sprouting from the ground to form a make-shift seat). And perhaps as a result of her violent past, she is very merciless during combat. She will break the necks or spines of her enemies without hesitation, even when they cry for forgiveness. Despite her tendency to remain calm and collected, she can be quite intimidating and forceful when she wishes. This is exhibited when she essentially forces Brook to stop fooling around and continue his explanation.

She also has a strong sense of personal pride. She refused to participate in Franky's "Tactics 15" docking procedure during the battle against Oars. The reason was that she found it "embarrassing as a human being". She flatly added that they should never try it again.[5]

Until after the Enies Lobby arc, Robin often tried to distance herself from other people, even her allies, as she knew that she was bound to leave them sooner or later. Upon first joining the Straw Hat crew she stated simply she had nowhere else to go, declaring that Luffy was responsible for her being alive and so he had to take responsibility for his own actions when she had decided to die. She rarely called her comrades by name, and instead referred to them using their ship-hand titles, such as Miss Navigator (Kōkaishi-san, i.e. Nami), Mr. Swordsman (Kenshi-san, i.e. Zoro), Mr. Long Nose (Nagahana-kun, i.e. Usopp), etc. She at first only called Luffy and Crocodile by their names, although in a professional manner as an agent. She does, on occasion, call Luffy "sencho-san" (meaning captain).
Over time, however, Robin becomes closer with her crewmates, and begins to get a sense of belonging with them, and has stated that she cares more about their well-being than that of the rest of the world. After seeing how far they will go in order to save her, she begins calling them by name in recent arcs, doing so with Luffy, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Franky and Zoro so far. She is grateful to Luffy for taking her in, and is significantly more patient with his impulsive personality than many of her fellow crewmates, even laughing when he impulsively allows members to join, while the others are shocked (after all, it is through this she became a Straw Hat member). She is also far more tolerant of Luffy's behavior, which at times even makes her laugh. This is going back as far as when they were enemies in the Arabasta arc when he fought Crocodile as "Water Luffy", drinking an entire barrel of water and spraying it at Crocodile from his mouth to make him more solid. Luffy was the one person able to convince her that she should live even if the world doesn't want her to, and if so, they are his and his crewmates' enemies as well. In many ways, Luffy reminds Robin of the other D. carrier she befriended.
Robin is quite close to Nami, affectionately referring to her as "Nami-chan", and often spends time with her, particularly shopping when they have free time, and talking with each other. Robin sympathizes with Nami's frustrations at the male crew members' silly antics, but doesn't get upset by them. Sanji constantly flirts with Robin, as he does with Nami. He was the first member (excluding Luffy) to accept her as one of the crew. Sanji describes her as 'a distant, more mature beauty than Nami', yet calls her "Robin-chan" (vs. "Nami-san") which has a "cuter" and more childish aspect. He also tries to make her suffix cuter by changing it to "Robin-chwan" at times, but Robin, unlike Nami, tolerates his advances and typically responds with politeness. Zoro initially distrusted Robin, but he cares for her too as he is willing to fight for her when she is in danger, such as catching her when she was nearly killed by Enel. He was also the first one to jump to her aid when she was threatened by Aokiji. After Enies Lobby, Zoro completely trusts Robin and gets along well with her. Amongst the crew, Zoro and Robin are the most calm and serious in any situation. Robin gets along well with Franky, and she appreciates him risking his life to save her. She has a lot in common with him since both were wanted by the world government's Cypher Pol when they were children dispite of being innocent and they saw their adoptive family destroyed by the world government in front of them. Her relationship with Chopper exists on two levels. First on a somewhat maternal level, as she finds him "cute", and second on an intellectual level, where she treats Chopper somewhat like an equal due to their mutual intellectual pursuits and love of books (despite the difference in disciplines). Usopp is the only one she addresses with -kun attached to a nickname, Nagahana-kun.

Professor Clover allowed Robin to become an archaeologist,[6] it was his research on Poneglyphs that sparked her interest in the True History. Clover allowed her to read books in his library which sparked her interest in them. She was supported by the other archaeologists in the Tree of Knowledge. They were her only friends and they cared for her more than anything. Even when they threatened to ban her from the Tree of Knowledge if she continued to spy on the efforts to uncover the True History, they did so in order to prevent her from being branded as a criminal.[7]
Aside from this, Jaguar D. Saul also held a special place in Robin's heart for befriending her during her periods of loneliness, recognizing her pain and encouraging her to laugh in hard times, in addition to sacrificing himself in order to save her life.
[edit] Revolutionary Army
The first members of the Revolutionary Army that Robin met (to her knowledge) were the ones liberating the slaves at Tequila Wolf. She was suprised to learn that she was referred to as the "Light of the Revolution" by them and that they had been searching for her for 10 years under the orders of none other than Dragon himself. They offered to take her to Dragon but she declined at first, saying that she had a crew. After she read Luffy's message in the newspaper, she decided to go with them to Dragon. She joked that she wished they would have come for her sooner (which they thought she was serious at first and apologized), but she said that she's glad with the way things turned out. She refused to come inside the ship, saying that she didn't want to go anywhere where she couldn't escape. The revolutionaries accommodated her by bringing blankets, drinks, food, a sofa, and a wind protector for her.
After the two year timeskip, she returned to Sabaody Archipelago alone but escaping some people. It's currently unknown what her relationship with Dragon or the other revolutionaries are currently.

During her time in Baroque Works, Robin was the enemy of those trying to save the kingdom from Crocodile's conspiracy, especially Nefertari Vivi, who believes that she killed Igaram, and the Straw Hats. As a result, most of the Straw Hats were suspicious about her joining, until she won them over. Upon discovery that Robin joined the crew, Cobra worried of Vivi's reaction, however Vivi trusted that Luffy has some reason for having her in his crew, and seemed to not hold any grudge against Robin.
While investigating the ruins of Upper Yard, she was interrupted by Yama. His fighting style destroyed the land around him, and when she yelled at him to stop, he disregarded the importance of the ruins. Outraged, she defeated him and forced him to beg her for forgiveness. However even when he apologized, she denied him forgiveness and tossed his body, head first, upside down, to the ground, showing zero tolerance for anyone who disregarded history.
Robin's greatest threat is always from the World Government, since, from the age of eight, they have ruthlessly hunted her. Aside from the World Government, Robin has made many enemies in the past through her constant betrayal, the most dangerous of which is Crocodile.[8] Wherever she went she was unable to find happiness and was constantly thrown out. And when the people she stayed with found out they were now the targets of the World Government, the group would turn on her, with the exception of Crocodile who agreed to protect her. To this end, Robin's claim is that her greatest enemy is the world itself.[9]
Several other civilians hate her, fearing her ability to awaken Pluton. Iceburg is one such example, as he states that while he would prefer to burn Pluton's blueprints, he must guard them in case the World Government uses her to revive the weapon. However, his opinion of her changes after he realizes that she is willing to turn herself in to save her friends, finally admitting that she is a good person. Franky feels similarly about her at first, but after learning of her being forced to turn herself in to save her friends, he immediately sympathizes with her due to his sentimental nature.
While Robin fears the three Admirals for their reputation of being the most powerful fighters of the Marines, she fears Aokiji the most, for they had a personal encounter 20 years ago. Aokiji stated that he was not her friend, and he would hunt her down if she became a problem. However, he had let her live due to the wish of his good friend, Jaguar D. Saul, who also happened to be Robin's friend. After the war within Enies Lobby, Aokiji had seemed to form a somewhat benign relationship with Robin, stating "Ohara still lives".
Two of Robin's greatest enemies are former CP9 director, Spandine, and his son, Spandam, both of whom considered her a "devil". They activated the Buster Call in attempts to kill those dear to Robin (the citizens of Ohara and the Straw Hat Pirates, respectively). Robin herself, was the victim of their abuse of authority, suffering physical, verbal and emotional abuse from Spandam, until Franky freed her. Consequently, Robin took her revenge by brutally injuring Spandam when the opportunity arose.

[edit] Nico Olvia
Nico Olvia was Robin's mother[10] and although the two went for many years without seeing each other, her mother still loved her deeply. She was proud of her daughter and considered her amazing for being able to read Poneglyphs at an extremely young age. Her only regret was she was unable to spend time with her daughter and all Robin ever wanted was to see her again and be with her.

Roji was Robin's aunt, via marriage to Olvia's brother. She disliked Robin and mistreated her from the very moment she walked into her house and treated her like nothing short of a slave.[11][12] As the boat she boarded was hit and sunk, she is believed to be dead.[13]

Although they were related to her, Robin is never shown interacting with her uncle and cousin. Robin's uncle was seen defending her against his wife, but otherwise did little to help her or acknowledge her as a member of the family. Robin also had a father, however Robin never knew her father and his name remains unknown. All family members (except Robin's father who died many years beforehand) are believed to have died at Ohara. The children of Ohara usually pick on Robin, but are scared off by her Hana Hana no Mi powers, and their parents would call her a monster for it.
[edit] Abilities and Powers
At a young age, Robin acquired a bounty of 79 million beli for consuming the Hana Hana no Mi, making her considerably powerful, and supposedly sinking 6 Buster Call warships with her devil fruit powers. This was a lie, however, as those ships were actually destroyed by Jaguar D. Saul after helping Robin escape during the destruction of Ohara. Her life on the run since the age of 8 has taught Robin the ways of survival and self-preservation, and has earned herself notoriety for being able to evade inescapable situations. Even Admiral Aokiji commented that she could have escaped from CP9 had she felt like it (she only abided by their conditions to keep them from unleashing the Buster Call upon her crewmates).
Robin is also a skilled archaeologist with a vast knowledge of history and cultures. She is one of the few alive (if not the only one) who can read the language scripted on Poneglyph tablets, which contain records of ancient history. This is the actual reason why her first bounty was so high. She taught most of these skills to herself through research in the library of Ohara during her childhood, which she had done without the aid of his senior colleagues, implying aptitude in academics and research. Outside of historic knowledge, she has a considerable knowledge of most of the major figures in the world and has at least heard of figures such as Red-Haired Shanks, Dragon and Gekko Moriah.
Robin has no superhuman abilities beyond her Devil Fruit powers and is an above average athlete. While the frequent use of her powers in battle leave much of her physical attributes in question, it is hinted from time to time that Robin's physical prowess is actually much stronger than her frail build would otherwise suggest: she was seen being able to take on direct hits from Yama's drop kicks and punches (with the latter that sent her flying through a wall, decimating it) and was still able to effectively (albeit with some difficulty) retaliate after maneuvering the latter away from the ruins of Skypeia, and restrain a powerful Zombie like Jigorou (albeit briefly). She is agile enough to maneuver (while maintaining her arms "X" formation) her way from a group of captain and commander-level marines before using her powers in retaliation. Her powers make her particularly well suited to taking on large numbers of foes, and the other members of the crew group her in with the Monster Trio in terms of strength due to how dangerous her abilities are, as evidenced when Nami put her in the group forbidden to blow Gan Fall's whistle and call for help along with the other strongest crew members, and in two hostile encounters with the crew where she had no problem disarming all the Straw Hats at once. During the Thriller Bark Arc, it is worth noting that before Nightmare Luffy arrived, she was the only one of the Straw Hats who was able to actually fight directly against the Shichibukai, Moria while he was inside Oars.
One of her impressive aspects is her will power; she managed to recover in mere minutes after her shadow was stolen by Gekko Moriah (when it usually takes a few days for most humans). She is not afraid to use violence as a solution to a problem or for defense and often incapacitates her enemies by breaking their necks or backs (even when they cry out for mercy), even going as far as to squeeze Franky's ball sack, quite relentlessly, to try to make him join their crew, and didn't release even when Luffy told her to stop. She is also has the habit of spying (i.e. listening in on conversations, reading body language and facial expressions); this is shown when she is spies on Sanji's conversation at Thriller Bark or reading the Straw Hats expressions when she first wanted to join the crew. At Water 7 she admits to Chopper these habits are from her childhood.

Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi at a very young age as she is seen using its powers at the age of eight, and was proficient enough to be able to use them to her advantage at spying on the research that Professor Clover, and the rest of her former colleagues from Ohara, were conducting under the radar of the World Government. She can spread her body parts on any surface including her own body, other bodies, and other objects. Usually, when she uses her powers she crosses her arms and makes an "X" shape across her chest. Robin's intelligent enough to know how to used her powers in the most effective and efficient way, and her attacks hinder the enemy, stopping all movement with the ever multiplying hands. Although her devil fruit is very powerful, her sprouted body parts can be hit and stretched, causing damage to her real body; this is her weak point. Her powers are also very useful in dangerous situations. She can carry her friends by using feet and hands. So far, hands, feet, ears and eyes are the only body parts she has used in either attacks or other applications. She tends to use her ability to place her foes in painful submission holds.
Her most common attacks are Seis Fleur Twist (Robin twists the foe's upper body around) and Ocho Fleur Flip (Robin uses a pair of arms that knock over the foe backwards, forms a pair of arms on the ground below them, and when the foe lands on it, two more pairs appear at their legs and head and pull them to the ground) and Clutch (her hands grow out of her opponents back, these hands clasp the targets chin simultaneously pulling the head back and breaking the targets neck, for stronger opponents, she uses more hands and has been seen breaking a person in half).
She also can use her ability for a number of support functions such as forming a net to catch falling comrades or form a large number of arms and shape wings, giving her the ability to stay aloft for a few seconds. She can also transport objects either by having grow feet to the object or a row of arms with each arm or pair of arms passing the object to the next. She also uses eyes and ears for knowledge acquisition, e.g. spying. In one instance when Usopp was falling through the White Sea she sprouted eyes on Luffy's stretched arm to find Usopp and rescue him by growing a lasso of arms from Luffy's arm. After the time skip, Robin is able to defy the power draining effects of the sea for a short time, to protect her crew from smashing into a large sea mountain using her "Manos Gigantes".
Her attacks are a combination of the Spanish, French, and English languages. Ex. "Cinco Fleur". Cinco (five in Spanish) refers to the number of arms she blossoms, and fleur is the French word for flower. Some attacks are followed by an English word that further describes the attack's purpose.[14] In the 4Kids English dub, the attacks are mostly English, using the word "Floret" instead of Fleur, such as "Eight Floret" or "One Hundred Floret".
No limit has been given for Robin's powers, but the author, Oda, has jokingly stated that she can only sprout limbs a distance of "200 Hana Hanas" away. Fans often misinterpret this as meaning she can only sprout 200 limbs, but this is false, since after the time skip, she can sprout at least a thousand arms.[15] However, she of course needs to be aware of the position of another object or person to attack it.

She carried a dagger at her belt, but did not use it in combat, as she fights unarmed using only her powers. She only used it once in an attempt to kill Crocodile in self defense.
When Robin teamed up with CP9 during their raid on Iceburg's mansion, she carried several flintlock pistols as well, wielding all of them at the same time with her Hana Hana no Mi powers.

Nico Robin was born on the island of Ohara, and comes from a family of archaeologists. Her mother, Nico Olivia, went out to sea to find the True History when Robin was 2 years old, leaving her in the care of Olivia's brother and his wife, Roji. While Robin's father was never revealed, Olivia states that she will honor her husband's dream, she then leaves to study the poneglyphs.[16] Robin later wandered into the Tree of Knowledge and was allowed to read the books held within on Clover's invitation.
Roji both verbally and physically abused Robin over menial actions. Roji made it obvious time and time again that Robin was not wanted; she was expected to keep out of sight and she was not allowed to participate in family celebrations.[11] The powers of her Devil Fruit often freaked out or scared the other children. So much so that they called her a demon. On top of that often she would overhear the conversations of parents telling their children to avoid her at all cost.[17] Her only friends were the scholars at "The Tree of Knowledge", with Professor Clover of the archeology lab, a friend of her mother, trying to take care of her.
At only eight years old, she aced an archeology exam and was officially inducted as a scholar.[6] However, when she announced that she, like her mother, wants to find out the true, unrecorded history of the world, she was reproved by Clover who told her she will get banned from the library if she continues to spy on the other scholars.[7]
Robin ran off crying and headed to the northwest beach of Ohara, where she met the giant Jaguar D. Saul who was washed up on shore. The two became friends and Robin continued to visit him for the following four days, while he built his raft.[18] After Saul found out he was on Ohara and Robin is oliva 's daughter, he informed Robin about the battleships that were on their way to Ohara to destroy due to the scholars studying the Poneglyph.[19]
Nico Olivia had recently escaped from the Marine ship and returned to Ohara (thanks to Saul's efforts). She informed the archaeologists that her colleagues had been killed by the marines. She tells them that the Marines were able to infer that Ohara was their homeland based on the items they possessed on the ship, and they were headed towards Ohara, likely to kill them. The archaeologists, however, refused to leave; they wished to continue to protect the tree and the knowledge they had worked so hard to research and procure. When Olvia was warned that CP9 was on shore, she rushed out of the Tree of Knowledge, running past her daughter without notice.[20]
Robin arrived at the Tree of Knowledge, and asked Clover about her mother's whereabouts. As a wanted woman, Olvia wished to cut all ties with her daughter, so that Robin might not be associated with a criminal mother. Doing as Olvia wanted, Clover denied that Robin's mother was on the island, but Robin seems skeptical. Clover quickly changed the topic and urged Robin to leave, and not to mention that she is an archaeologist, or she might be arrested too. Robin refused and CP9 bust into the Tree of Knowledge and began searching for the Poneglyphs.[21]
Outside, agents warn the island's residents to move to the evacuation boat, or be destroyed. Olvia confronted Spandine, the director of CP9 at the time, but was quickly subdued by the brute force of his agents.[21]
Back at the Tree of Knowledge, all of the archaeologists were arrested and taken outside the tree, and once again Clover urged Robin to escape, but she refused. Spandine and the rest of CP9 arrived with a gravely wounded Olvia, who instantly recognized her daughter once her name is spoken.[21] CP9 finds the Poneglyph in the basement of the tree, and Spandine sentences the archaeologists to death by Buster Call. However, Clover began to speak out, talking to the Gorousei via Spandine's Den Den Mushi, stating his theory on why the government really wants to keep the Void Century a secret. However, before Clover can reveal the name of the civilization he spoke of, he is shot point blank and mortally wounded.[22]
Seeing that the battleships had already arrived, Saul rushed off to find Robin. As the attack on Ohara began, it was discovered that Robin also had the capacity to read Poneglyphs. As the bombardment began, Spandine and CP9 made their exit, Robin and Olvia reunited, and shortly afterwards, Saul arrived.
It was then revealed that Saul was a former Marine Vice-Admiral, and aided Nico Olvia on her escape. Olvia asked Saul to make sure that her daughter was taken safely off the island, and told Robin that she must continue to live. Robin begged to stay with her mother, but Olivia insisted on staying, as there was something more that she had to do.
Saul follows Olvia's wish and manages to reach the island's shore. But the marine ships spot him and open fire. Seeing he was carrying Robin, Saul puts her down and retaliates in anger for almost hurting Robin, and destroys several ships. Robin tries to make for the evacuation ship but trying to use her Hana Hana abilities to get aboard frightens the people on board, plus Spandine tells them to not let her on since she claims she is an archaeologist, though this would be fortunate for Robin. Saul notices Spandine and charges towards his ship for his foolishness, but Vice-Admiral Kuzan (later known as Aokiji) prevents him from getting that far, challenging him.
The ship is destroyed by another vice-admiral, Sakazuki, who does it as a precaution if any archaeologist had snuck aboard.[23] This act disgusts both Saul and even Kuzan. Saul tries to get away with Robin but he is frozen by Kuzan's ice power. Before being completely encased, Saul encourages Robin to escape and that her friends are out in the ocean waiting for her. His last act is to laugh as he is frozen, sticking to his philosophy to laugh from his heart even in bad times.
Back at the Tree of Knowledge, Olvia, Clover and the other scholars have tossed out as many books into the ocean as they can so future generations can find them. They then realize there's nothing more they can do and stay in the tree as it burns around them. Olvia apologizes to Robin for not leaving any parting words as a mother.
Robin runs to the raft that Saul built, only to be met by Kuzan. He tells her he's letting Robin go, curious of why Saul risked his life for her. However Kuzan warns her that he will be the first to come after Robin if she tries anything.
Robin then leaves on a boat guided by an ice path Kuzan sets for her. Remembering Saul's words, she tries to laugh but weeps as Ohara is burned to the ground. Apparently she is the only survivor.
[edit] 20 Years on the Run
Robin was found by a ship heading northwest of West Blue and when she boarded it, somehow her bounty picture was taken. Spandine angrily explained to Sengoku that he tried to follow her but his ship was caught on ice. He suggested putting a bounty on her head. For the World Government to capture her, they sent Marines and agents to hunt her down, and spread the lie that she sank six ships to cover up the truth.
The World Government labeled her the Demon of Ohara, they lied to the public that the Oharans were trying to find the Ancient Weapons to destroy the world which is not what the Oharans were trying to do. (see Void Century for more information). Out of paranoia of what would become of her, the World Government let word out that she posed a threat and soon the world was brainwashed into thinking that Robin was trying to destroy the world. Robin's innocent life was ruined and she grew up hating the Government for the crimes they committed against her.
Robin went to different people as the twenty years passed, all tried to turn her in or kill her. Robin first encountered such attempts when she was taken in by an old farm lady she thought was kind. Robin worked hard and thought she found a place she belonged. But one night the old farm lady told Robin that before they could eat she had visitors. The visitors turn out to be World Government agents attempting to kill her. The old farm lady was last seen yelling at the agents "Now give me the money! I turned her in for you" as she pulled the agents' clothes in anger. This was the first time Robin was betrayed. Next, Robin was then taken in by a couple. She again worked hard for them but during the night she overheard the people talking about turning Robin in, Robin then fled. After that they angrily called Robin an unfortunate woman who betrayed their kindness. This negative gossip spread around the world, creating a half truth myth. Terms like "devil woman" were born along with the belief that her very existence is a sin. Many people in the world believed these myths and rumors and consider Robin a terror.
She joined her first pirate crew at age 8. However, after the World Government caught up with her new crew, they assumed she had betrayed them. She fled before the pirates turned their anger against her. They even threw curses at her, calling her trouble. After that, Robin would often sit on a rock in pouring rain as a dog come to her begging for food. Robin apologized and said "dereshishi" for the last time. Robin then tried to help out in a shop but the owner whacked her with a stick in anger, telling her that she was not allowed in.
When she turned sixteen years old, Robin joined an unknown organization but it wasn't long before she betrayed the organization. Later on, she joined the Baroque Works organization run by Crocodile, who needed her ability to read the poneglyphs, and managed to stay on long-term, safely hiding away from the government while employed in the organization.[24] At age twenty three, she entered the Grand Line from the West Blue from the Red Line where Mariejois is located.[25]

[edit] Departure from Whiskey Peak
Robin first appears as "Miss All Sunday" ("Miss Sunday" in the 4Kids English anime), agent and vice-president of the Baroque Works organization, at the end of the Whiskey Peak arc. She was responsible for blowing up Igaram's decoy ship, though Igaram survived, which apparently was her intention. She met the Strawhat Pirates and, after cryptically playing with them for a bit, offered them an Eternal Pose to Nanimonai Island, however, Luffy broke it, saying that he would not allow her to decide their destination. Princess Vivi revealed that it was Miss All Sunday who allowed her to discover the identity of Baroque Works' president, Crocodile.

Throughout the Baroque Works Saga, it becomes apparent that Robin does not care about Baroque Works, as she continually and discreetly helps Luffy and his crew succeed in defeating Crocodile. In one instance she saves Luffy's life and gets Pell (whom she earlier attacked) to help him. In the end she betrays Crocodile by lying to him about the Poneglyphs he wanted her to decipher for him. She tries to assassinate him, stating that she always expected him to betray her, and is in turn stabbed by Crocodile, replying that he forgives her for not revealing Pluton to him, because he never trusted anyone from the start.[8] She is left for dead, but after the battle with Crocodile, gives Cobra the antidote to Crocodile's poison, so that he can use it to save Luffy. Her last lead having proven fruitless, Robin is resigned to die, but Luffy saves her from the collapsing tomb despite her demanding to be left behind.
Robin then stows away on the Going Merry, much to the surprise of the Strawhats when they return to their ship. Robin tells Luffy that since he saved her life when she wanted to die, he has to let her join him on his ship. Luffy agrees, and while his crewmates protest (apart from Sanji), Robin wins them over.

[edit] Rumble in Jaya
Nami's Log Pose begins to point to the sky, after that, a big ship falls from sky and the crew finds a map in of an island named 'Skypiea' on a 200-year-old ship. They compete with the monkey-like Masira's salvage crew while they search for more clues on how to get there. The Straw Hats decide to go to Jaya island to look for information on Skypiea, while Robin herself decided to temporarily part from the crew and search for clues on her own. It was implied that she may have gotten into some kind of confrontation while gathering information, and used her powers to end the scuffle. The Strawhats meet with Montblanc Cricket on another part of Jaya; Cricket is a descendant of Montblanc Norland, an infamous "liar" who told of a gold city on Jaya, and Cricket was outcast for looking for artifacts of the gold city. He may be the only person who knows how to get to Skypiea. Cricket explains how the Straw Hats can ride a dangerous vertical current called the Knock-Up Stream to get to Skypeia. However, they first have to catch a South Bird to point them toward the point where the stream will erupt from the ocean. While the Straw Hats are looking for a South Bird, Bellamy and his crew attack Cricket's house, and steal the gold artifacts he'd collected over the years from his salvage work. When the Straw Hats return and see what happened, Luffy decides to take a side trip back to Mock Town. The Going Merry is refitted by Masira and Shojo to be more flight capable, and the Straw Hats catch a ride on the Knock-Up Stream for Skypiea.
[edit] Adventure in a Sky Island and Taking Down a God
They start from entering the Gate of Heaven. First they have been recommended by an old woman to pay their extol, but even; though they don't pay the old woman let them pass. As they carried by a sky shrimp, they landed on a place that's surrounded by clouds. They met Conis, a Skypiean. As they talk, the White Berets interrupt them and labeling them as a criminal of illegal entrants. As Zoro, Nami, Chopper, and Robin board the ship, the shrimp suddenly carries them, Zoro tries to kill it but there's something behind. The shrimp leaves them in the Sacrificial Altar. Zoro, Nami and Robin explored the land and they discovered it as a part of Jaya.
When a giant snake attacks them, Robin, Luffy, Zoro and Chopper are separated, and all decide to go to the legendary city themselves hoping to meet each other there, although only Robin is going the right way. Robin defeats Yama, the chief of Enel's enforcers, angered by his destroying the ruins around her while trying to attack her. While looking for the Poneglyph, she met Enel himself and with a massive, powerful burst of lightning, he brings all the other combatants on Giant Jack crashing down to the city. With Zoro and Nami (who were hiding) as the only known survivors of the game, there were only six combatants that had survived (Luffy was swallowed by the giant snake), in front of the master of the game. Enel eliminated Gan Fall when he defiantly denounced him as God. Robin herself is struck down by lightning after trying to trick Enel into believing that if he destroyed Upper Yard, the Golden Bell would never be found, having anticipated that she would have knowledge of where it is and would try to use it against him.
When Luffy and a Shandian girl named Aisa escaped the snake (due to it being electrocuted by Enel), Robin regained consciousness, and told Luffy and Aisa of Enel's plan to destroy all of Skypiea, and gain the Golden Bell for himself. As Luffy charged towards the self-proclaimed god with Aisa on Pierre to give his location, Robin mustered up what strength she had to get the defeated Straw Hats to higher ground on Giant Jack in case Enel began his attack. During the battle, Enel tricked Luffy, and temporarily prevented him from interfering with his plan by grafting a giant sphere of gold onto his arm and removing him from the ship. Enel then used his flying ship, Maxim to form thunderclouds over Skypeia, and commenced his plan by firing lightning bolts all over the land as it rises to search for the Golden Bell. Amazingly, Luffy returns to Giant Jack, and asks Robin to take care of Aisa, while he has unfinished business with Enel, charging up again.
Eventually, with Nami's help, the Straw Hats knock over Giant Jack for Luffy with Nami riding her Waver to gain up to him, as he jumped towards the massive thundercloud Enel created: the Raigou and discharged the electricity within it, causing it to explode and clear the sky. Luffy, with his final attack, knocked Enel through the Golden Bell, and ended the war between the Skypeians and the Shandians, with the bell and Enel collapsing. After Luffy defeated Enel, Robin reads the Poneglyph on the Golden Bell, learning about another ancient weapon, Poseidon, and sees Gol D. Roger's writing in the ancient script on the bell. She then concludes that the Rio Poneglyph is on Raftel. Seeing this, Robin became convinced that Luffy will be very important in the changing era of the world.

[edit] Davy Back Fight
Robin and company come across a mysterious pirate ship after trying to escape a giant wave. Soon, they arrive on an island inhabited by strange animals. Going Merry is captured by the Foxy Pirates. After Tonjit re-unites with his horse, they are soon attacked by Captain Foxy and his subordinates, who challenge Luffy to a Davy Back Fight, a contest of pirates where the stakes are members of the crew. She teamed up with Nami and Usopp. With only Nami's, and Porche's boat remaining, it's an all out war to the goal, but after Foxy exposes his Devil Fruit powers, Porche wins and takes Tony Tony Chopper from Luffy. The second round prepares to start. She together with the other Straw Hats watch on the sidelines as Sanji and Zoro play the ball game, but are hampered by Foxy's blatant cheating and the crooked referee. Luffy and Foxy face off in the final game: a battle of brawn aboard Foxy's ship. The Straw Hat crew watch aside as Luffy continues to battle Foxy with the odds not in his favor, and the fight continues inside Foxy's ship. Luffy manages to finally defeat Foxy by using his ability against him. After getting back his crewmembers, the Straw Hats leave in search of a shipwright.
After the Davy Back Fight arc, she is confronted by Aokiji, one of the three Admirals. Aokiji frightens Robin as he reveals to the crew a little of Nico Robin's dark past, emphasizing that every organization she has joined has been wiped out, leaving her as the only survivor. The woman tries to retaliate and attacks him with her power, but he remains unharmed because the Hie Hie no Mi's Logia intangibility. The Admiral then freezes Nico Robin with his powers, and then tries to smash her frozen form, but she's taken away by her crew and she manages to survive, the ice encasing her having been melted with hot water by her crew mates.
The incident however leaves her very upset, as even her captain gets frozen by Aokiji, and even though he's saved too, the Archaeologist starts to feel once more a disgrace for her companions.
[edit] Water 7: A Breaking Ship, a Breaking Crew
After the Going Merry narrowly escapes being hit by a Sea Train, the crew meets an old woman, Kokoro, and her granddaughter, Chimney. Kokoro gives Luffy a map to the next island, Water 7. The crew travels to Water 7 to cash in the gold from Skypeia and repair the ship, but soon find out that the Going Merry is beyond repair. Robin goes shopping with Chopper, but she disappears after a stranger wearing a mask whispers "CP9" to her.
Iceburg, the mayor of Water 7 and president of the Galley-La Company, is later nearly killed in an assassination attempt. He claims that one of the assassins was Nico Robin, and assumes that the masked man who was with her was another member of the Straw Hat pirates. An announcement is made saying that the culprits of the assassination attempt were the Straw Hats, and that everybody should go and search for them. While the crew hide from angry residents, Sanji and Chopper discover Robin and she tells them what they've feared: she's responsible and she wants to part ways.
The Straw Hats (still missing Sanji) rush to Galley-La Company headquarters where Robin and CP9, an elite group of assassins from the World Government, were beginning a raid. In Iceburg's room, Robin and the mysterious man Iceburg saw before, tell him that they've purposely placed the blame on the pirates. Their true aim is the Pluton blueprints passed down on to him by his mentor Tom. The assassins regroup and are revealed to be Iceburg's own allies: Blueno the bartender, his secretary Kalifa, and two of his shipwrights Kaku and Rob Lucci. The Straw Hat Pirates and Paulie break into the room where they find Iceburg and CP9. Luffy and the others request that Robin comes back to the crew. She refuses and tells them that she cannot accomplish her "wish" if she were to stay with them. Robin turns to leave and CP9 try to hold the pirates back. Robin successfully escapes and Lucci shows those remaining his Devil Fruit power.
When she boards the Sea Train, the train was guarded. When it departed, Sogeking later appeared. Sogeking talks with Robin and tells her that the crew knows about her reasons for leaving. After hiding under Robin's cloak, Sogeking shows himself. They stumble into the room with CP9 and meet with Sanji and Franky. Sogeking produces a smokescreen. The four head into another car, detach it, and escape. It's not long before Blueno pulls their car back, though. Franky knocks down the wall so that they can escape but ends up on the enemy car. Robin willingly follows Blueno into his improvised door and Sogeking and Sanji are left alone. For a while, Blueno explains a little of Robin's past involving the Buster Call. The CP9, Franky, and Robin finally reach Enies Lobby and disembark.
[edit] Rescuing a Nakama from Enies Lobby
When Robin reveals her fears of being abandoned by the Straw Hats because of the danger of being close to her, Luffy ordered Sogeking to burn the World Government flag. This is Luffy's way of showing Robin that he and the Straw Hats would never abandon her--if the World Government is her enemy, then they are the Straw Hats' enemy, too. Luffy then encouraged Robin to say that she wants to live, which she did, shouting out across Enies Lobby that she wanted to go to sea with them again. ("I want to live! Take me out to sea with you!") They proceeded to charge into the Tower of Justice facing off against CP9, to rescue her. Robin in the meantime, suffered continuous torture at Spandam's hands, with him gloating that CP9 will crush the Straw Hats, and calling the Buster Call (accidentally) to give them a very slim chance of surviving. With Seastone handcuffs on her, Robin could do little to resist the physical punishment Spandam delivered (and once through his sword Funkfreed), and made her relive the painful memories of her home being annihilated, and her suffering of the past 20 years, all while revealing that the one who sent the Buster Call to Ohara, and started the painful two decades of her life of being hunted: Spandine, Spandam's father.
As Spandam laughed at Robin's suffering, the latter broke down in tears, reliving all that pain as she was being dragged across the Bridge of Hesitation, passing the arc on the bridge meant her fate would have been sealed after she passed the Gates of Justice, but Sogeking quickly fired gunpowder from another tower at Spandam, injuring him before he could get past the arc. Sogeking fired several gunpowder balls at the Marine soldiers, but they couldn't fire at him as the bullets do not cover the distance between them. Robin, realizing who is helping, shed a tear of happiness, and Franky himself reappeared with the keys they recovered fighting CP9 and freed Robin. Happy that her crewmates returned and rescued her, Robin is told by Sogeking, via Franky's Den Den Mushi, that she is indeed Luffy's friend.
Robin now free, proceeded to get revenge on Spandam by using her powers to slap him senseless with multiple arms. Despite the Buster Call being called in to deal with the Straw Hats, they all manage to escape successfully. Robin has apparently gotten over her past, as she joined the rest in fending off the Buster Call's attacks. She also saved Luffy, who won his battle with Rob Lucci even after he was immobilized from repeated attacks at his internal organs by Lucci, by dropping him onto the Going Merry. After Luffy gets on board, he tries to thank her, but she uses her powers to place a hand over his mouth and thanks the whole crew for risking themselves for her. Seeing his refusal to give up his pursuit of the Straw Hats, herself in particular, Robin finally breaks Spandam's back with her Clutch technique to finish him off.
With the Going Merry, everyone has managed to escape Enies Lobby safely. However, after escaping, Iceburg arrives in a Galley-La ship just in time to pick up the Straw Hat Pirates as the Merry suddenly breaks apart. Luffy then gives the Going Merry a viking funeral by burning it as the crew tearfully says goodbye.
[edit] Aftermath of Enies Lobby
2 days later, Robin is celebrating at Water 7 with her friends and those who helped her escape Enies Lobby. While standing alone and smiling, away from the celebration, she is greeted by a familiar voice. It is Aokiji, who is hiding behind the wall she is leaning against. He tells her that he let her go 20 years ago only because Saul had been his friend and that this whole Enies Lobby event was supposed to end everything after seeing her still floating in the world like a time bomb waiting to go off. Then Aokiji asks if she has found a home with the Straw Hats, and after she says that she has, he left saying that Ohara isn't fully destroyed yet, presumably meaning that the memory and purpose of Ohara live on within her. She guesses that Aokiji is behind removing the Franky Family and Galley-La shipwrights from the report on Enies Lobby, but does not tell anyone.
Robin's bounty is increased to 
80,000,000, with a new picture. The increase is very small in comparison to the rest of the crew (with the exception of Chopper). After the Straw Hats lure Franky to the Thousand Sunny, Robin uses her powers to 'persuade' Franky to join the crew, by using her powers to squeeze his testicles until he agreed to join, even with everyone looking on in horror to what she was doing and Luffy telling her to stop as he wanted Franky to "still be a man" when he joined. She just replied that they are pirates, and that when they see "treasure", they should grab it and not let go without good reason.

[edit] Adventure on Ghost Island
After sailing for some time on the Thousand Sunny, Robin and the rest of the crew came across a mysterious barrel floating in the ocean. Upon opening it, a flash shot up from it. Suspecting that it maybe a homing beacon of some sort, Robin asked the rest of the crew to get ready. After braving a storm that mysteriously came afterwards, Robin and the rest of the crew found themselves in the presence of a ghost ship.
This ship apparently belonged to a skeleton named Brook who through by chance initially accepted Luffy's offer to join the crew.[26] This skeleton explained over dinner that he was once a pirate that ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi. Brook also explained that his shadow was stolen by someone. The later information seemed to spark an interest in Robin.[27] Just as Brook was about to perform before Robin and the rest of the crew, a ghost appeared and some clanking sounds were heard. These sounds were caused by the gates of the island that suddenly appeared, Thriller Bark, closing. These events prompted Brook to head to the island before Robin and the rest of the Straw Hats' eyes.
With Luffy's resolve to go to the island, Robin decided to join also with the response that she likes thrills. After witnessing Franky's present to the Straw Hats, Robin and the rest of the Straw Hats decided to look for Nami, Usopp, and Chopper who had not returned. However before Robin and the rest could go to the island, they were stopped by an invisible thing.[28] This thing licked her from bottom to top and left Robin and the rest baffled.
After the Thousand Sunny got caught in what was apparently a spider web, Robin and the rest descended to the island. There they met the Cerberus which Robin found cute.[29] After Luffy tamed the beast, Robin and the rest met two more of the island's creatures.
Robin and the rest then came across some ghosts which she noted their difference with the rest of the other creatures on the island. She also noted the ghosts' strange ability to drain out one's will as she saw some pass through some of her traveling companions. After those who were affected by them recovered, Robin and the rest pressed forward. Robin and the rest later met with some Zombies and defeated them with a combo technique.[30] The group then met with a old man who looked like a Zombie. The old man asked them to defeat Gekko Moriah who had stolen his shadow. Robin, upon hearing that name, explained to the group that Moriah was a Shichibukai with a former bounty higher than Luffy.
With only Franky, Robin and Luffy left out of the group, the three of them fought off zombies until Luffy got kidnapped. Before getting the chance to save him, Robin and Franky are blocked by a giant spider that acts like a monkey. Franky destroyed the bridge they were on to escape from the situation and Robin reacted by creating wings out of hands. Though she stated she could only hold them for five seconds, it was enough for Franky to use his attack Strong Right to grab the entrance way from which the bridge had been attached to. As they are pulled up to the opening, Brook suddenly falls from the sky.
After Brook's fall, the Spider Monkey returns his attention to Franky and Robin. As Robin and Franky fight on, Robin suddenly finds herself trapped in a web formed by Spider Mice. Eventually Franky and Brook defeat the Spider Monkey and free Robin. After the battle Brook explains to Robin and Franky how Moriah creates Zombies and what their weakness is. Later she helps Usopp and Chopper to defeat some zombies and escorts them back to the ship where they find Luffy, Zoro and Sanji. When Luffy asks if anyone objects to Brook joining the crew, Robin smiles and says Luffy would invite him even if they did. After explaining the situation to them Luffy tells the Straw Hats to prepare for a counterattack on Thriller Bark. Robin was facing off against Doctor Hogback and Zombies, Jigorou, Inuppe, and Hogback's servant Cindry while Luffy makes his way to Moriah. When the zombies are defeated, She and Chopper try to finish off Hogback once and for all, until they are forced to flee when Oars attacks the mansion.
Robin helps the other members of the crew fight Oars. After that, she is seen knocked unconscious from Oars' attack. However, she recovers quickly along with the rest of the crew and proceeds to assist in bringing Oars down with her move Cien Fleur: Big Tree. However, Oars recovered and Gekko Moriah entered Oars' belly giving the giant greater strength than ever before. Robin attempted to stop Moriah with her ability Ochenta Fleur: Cuatro Mano Hold but Moriah escaped the attack with the help of Doppleman, his shadow. Moriah has now removed Robin's shadow from her body leaving her unconscious with her shadow in his hands as he continues to operate Oars from within his stomach.
She somehow awakens and helps Luffy and Brook get to the top of Thriller Bark by sprouting legs on the walls to climb on. While she is almost disintegrated in the sunrise, her shadow returns in time for her to survive. Unfortunately, another Shichibukai, Bartholomew Kuma was also on Thriller Bark just receiving orders via Sengoku from the World Government to wipe out all witnesses, including the Straw Hat Pirates of Gekko Moriah's defeat by Monkey D. Luffy. After briefly dueling with Kuma, the Shichibukai gives the Straw Hats an ultimatum: Let him take Luffy (who has lost consciousness from the pain and fatigue he gained from fighting Moriah, and his body almost disintegrating), and the Straw Hats will be spared as they are not as much a threat to the World Government as Luffy is. They all refused his offer and Kuma released his Ursus Shock attack, knocking Robin, along with the rest of the Straw Hats and the Rolling Pirates, unconscious, but regained consciousness after Kuma left Thriller Bark. Thanks to her power, she sprouted her ear to eardrop the conversation between Sanji and the Risky Brothers, and know about Zoro's story after Ursus Shock. After that, when Brook asked again if Luffy would honor his initial acceptance of joining the Straw Hats, Luffy replied yes. While all the other Straw Hats were shocked at how quickly he joined the crew, Robin just giggled.
Once she and the rest of the crew finally left Thriller Bark, they held a toast to Brook, their new nakama.
[edit] An Incident at Sabaody Archipelago and Destruction of the Straw Hat Crew
Journeying further into the Sabaody Archipelago, the Straw Hats are looking for a mechanic to coat their ship, The crew sees slavery firsthand, Robin talks about fishmen being treated as inferior in the past. When the rest of the crew arive at the auctionhouse to rescue Keimi, Robin drops into the auction house using her Cien Fleur: Wing, and fights the guards with the rest of the crew. Robin recognizes Trafalgar Law as a pirate when Luffy asks who he is. She prepares to disable Saint Shalulia before she can kill Keimi, but the Noble is stopped by Rayleigh's burst of "spirit". Robin escapes with Hachi, Rayleigh, Keimi and the rest of the crew to Shakky's Rip Off Bar, and hears Rayleigh tell of the truth about Gold Roger's fate.
Robin later questions Rayleigh as to what the Will of the D. and if they read the Rio Poneglyph, remembering when she noted Gol D. Roger writing a message in the same language. Rayleigh confirmed that they, the Roger Pirates, read the True History, but advised Robin that they may have misread it and that she herself may come to a different conclusion than they did. Rayleigh told them that they were mere pirates and hadn't had the intellect of the Oharan scholars or professor Clover, and said Roger simply had the ability to hear all things. Rayleigh seems to be fully aware of the details of the Ohara Incident, and mentioned it was a tragedy, but asked if Robin still wanted to hear what he had learned from the True History, to which she declined. Robin's first question about the Will of the D, however, was unanswered
Rayleigh decided to coat the Thousand Sunny free of charge, and because it would take at least three days to coat, he gave all the Straw Hats Vivre Cards to locate him. After the Straw Hats departed Shakky's Rip Off Bar, they are confronted by someone who appears to be Bartholomew Kuma. Eventually, they are able to gain the upper hand on the Pacifista, and Robin helps defeat it by using her powers to form four huge arms to forcibly shut the Pacifista's mouth during a mouth blast attack, leaving it groggy before Nami and the Monster Trio (Sanji, Zoro and Luffy) seemingly deliver the finishing blows to the cyborg. Later she follows Luffy and Chopper when they split up only to be intercepted by Sentoumaru who sends Luffy flying, she later carries Luffy to safety when Chopper turned into his Monster Point. When Admiral Kizaru arrives and cripples Zoro, she tries to move him away from his attack but he just shifts his position and pins his body down. Bartholomew Kuma also appears on Sabaody, teleporting the out of control Pacifista away and then all the Straw Hats to different locations one by one. Robin is the second to last one to be vanished when she was intercepted by Kuma while she was trying to escape.
[edit] Straw Hat Separation Adventure: Tequila Wolf
She landed on an island called Tequila Wolf, in the East Blue, where the enslaved inhabitants have been working on a bridge for the last 700 years. She is also shown having had her hands cuffed, indicating that she has to help build it. Robin asks why the Bridge is being built, and is told she has no need to know that.
She later appears to have escaped surveillance with a ring of stolen keys in her mouth, but apparently has yet to leave their domain. Eventually, she and the other slaves were freed by a group of revolutionaries who came to liberate them.
The revolutionaries reveal that they have been searching for her for 10 years because she was the only survivor from "The Nation who fought against the World, Ohara." Their leader, Dragon, told them to protect her from the World Government to the best of their abilities. The revolutionaries then offer Robin a meeting with Dragon. Robin declined as she doesn't need protection because she has her crew. Robin then rides on a carriage which is going to the end of the bridge. While passing through a construction site from 300 years ago, Robin inquires about the bridge. A revolutionary informs her that the construction of the bridge is an order from the World Nobles. When Robin received a newspaper, she laughed and was glad that Luffy was alright. When asked if there was something interesting written, she agreed and smiled.
While reading the article of Luffy infiltrating and praying at Marineford, she states "roger" with a smile as she always does when her captain makes an order.
She changed her mind about going to Baltigo with them. She said that if she had known there were people this kind in the world that she would have come to them sooner. The revolutionaries said that they did not know she was working under Sir Crocodile. She responded that she was glad things worked out the way they did. She then has a flashback to her life on the run as a child and to the events of Enies Lobby. When the revolutionaries invited her inside to be out of the cold, she said that as a pirate, she could not trust revolutionaries too easily and that it would not be wise to accept an invitation to a room where she would not have an escape route. As the revolutionaries were bringing her food and warm blankets, she wonders if she could become stronger by turning herself over to the revolution with Dragon, blushing and giggling at the idea. She then realizes that she has never thought of becoming stronger for someone else before now.

[edit] Straw Hat Reunion and Journey to Fishman Island
Robin returned to Sabaody Archipelago in secret, the reason for this is currently unknown. She has pulled her hair back, revealing more of her forehead and is wearing sunglasses and a long skirt. People are chasing her for unknown reasons. She is seen wondering if she lost her pursuers while reading two posters, one about Brook's concert tour and the other one about the "Straw Hat Pirates" recruiting new members. She seemed confused by both articles. Later, when the Fake Robin is captured by her pursuers and they report to an unknown source on a den den mushi that they "have arrested Nico Robin", Robin shows no signs of surprise, saying she has to hurry while wondering if everyone else had made it back. She then returns to the Thousand Sunny at GR 17 where she meets and gets reacquainted with Franky. She comments that Franky hasn't changed (in terms of personality) and makes a joke at the fact that he can no longer be considered "human". Robin was then reunited with Nami, Usopp, and Chopper when they arrived at the Thousand Sunny.
When the Thousand Sunny arrives to Grove 42, Chopper and a giant bird brought Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji to the ship. When Boa Hancock intercepts a Marine ship, Robin tells the crew about her. With the Marines held back by the Strawhats' new allies, the crew submerged and head for Fishman Island.
As the ship descends, the crew marvels at the underwater sights. When Sanji is propelled out by a massive nosebleed and dragged back in the bubble by Luffy, she deduces that the coating has the same properties as the bubbles in Saboady Archipelago. Usopp scolds her for analysing the coating at the wrong time as Sanji's nosebleed is a more pressing issue. The crew then decides to have lunch while Franky explains how Kuma kept the ship safe for two years. As they ponder Kuma's intentions, the shadow of Caribou's ship is seen following them.
As the Thousand Sunny descends even further the Strawhats marvel at how deep they are and how dark it is. With the help of a seacow, the Caribou Pirates catch up with the Straw Hats. Caribou quickly sets foot on the Thousand Sunny. Before his crew can follow, his seacow, which turns out to be Mohmoo, fled in fear after seeing Nami, Sanji, and Luffy, taking the rest of the Caribou Pirates and leaving Caribou alone on the ship. The Straw Hats then tie up Caribou as he begs for mercy. With that settled, Robin helps Nami explain about the Sea Currents. She is then the one to spot the 'underwater waterfall' where the crew encounter the Kraken. Robin calmly comments that it is a rare sight and starts sketching it. Even though the Monster Trio leaves the ship using Barefoot Coating to fight the Kraken, the sea monster aims for the Thousand Sunny. After Chopper blocks a tentacle with his Guard Point, Robin uses her Devil Fruit powers to prevent the Thousand Sunny from hitting the undersea mountain. The Monster Trio soon defeats the Kraken, but because they're not wearing life-lines, they got separated from Robin and the rest of the Straw Hats as the ship goes down the "underwater waterfall". After reaching 7000 meters below the surface, the crew then encouters more sea monsters. When the crew reach the deep-sea volcanic region, they encouter an angler fish which attempts to eat the Thousand Sunny. Robin and the crew are saved by an Umibozu. The crew then encounters Van der Decken and the Flying Dutchman. Van der Dekken orders the Umibozu to punch the Thousand Sunny, but the giant is stopped by the newly-tamed Kraken. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are then reunited with the rest of the Straw Hats. Before anything can happen, an underwater volcano starts to erupt
When the crew starts escaping from the volcano, Robin comments that Surume has an odd way of running. After jumping into the trench, she, along with Franky, notices the rocks falling toward the ship. When Zoro tries to cut them, Robin grabs him with her Devil Fruit powers, saying that the pressure would kill him. When the ship reaches the bottom of the trench, the crew finally sees Fishman Island. The crew then encounter a gang of sea monsters led by Hammond, who gives the crew two options: join the New Fishman Pirates or die. When Nami tells Franky her plan to get away from Hammond, Robin agrees that it is a good idea and the only way for them to make it out alive.

[edit] Discovering an Ancient History
Luffy rejects Hammond and the fishman prepares to attack. Franky activates Coup de Burst (using the rest of the oxygen contained within the coating's bubble) and the ship flies through the bubble surrounding Fishman Island. Upon entry, Robin realizes that the bubble is double-layered and that most ships would just fall through the air pocket between the layers. Upon successfully entering the second bubble, the Sunny then falls into a powerful current which separates the crew.
Robin remained with Nami and Franky after they entered Fishman Island. They went on their separate ways to do different things.
Robin decided to explore Fishman Island to study history. After defeating several Ammo Knights at a fish bus stop, she is seen riding on a fish bus heading to the Sea Forest. Robin learned that there might be a poneglyph in there. She soon meets Franky and informs him that she is searching for something and heads to the Sea Forest.
Robin eventually finds the poneglyph, hidden in the backwoods of the Sea Forest. She reads it easily, despite it being covered with moss and left to age. She comments that this poneglyph is different from the others, which has an apology letter written on it. She then wonders what the apology was for and asks about someone named Joy Boy.
She then returns to the location of the Thousand Sunny to interrupt a fight between Luffy and Jinbe with her new duplication technique. Later, when the group is discussing their attack strategy, Nami volunteers Robin and her self to get the keys to the royal family's shackles and swipe the tenryubito letter, respectively.
[edit] Battle for Fishman Island
Robin later goes to Gyoncorde Plaza with the rest of the Straw Hats and uses her ability to unlock the chains that bind Neptune and the princes. Robin and the crew then prepare to fight against the New Fishman Pirates. When Luffy unleashes a burst of Haoshoku Haki, Robin is surprised at his ability, though not unfamiliar with it. As the battle with the New Fishman Pirates commences, Robin defeats some of them with her Devil Fruit powers. She then use "Mil Fleur: Gigantesco Mano", summoning two giant legs and crush more of the pirates.
Later, when Hyouzou goes on a rampage, he charges at Robin. Zoro intercepts Hyouzou before he reaches her. When Jinbe sees Hammond's "Slave Tank" and how the New Fishman Pirates are treating their captives in the same way the World Nobles treat their slaves, he asks Robin to help and she agrees. Robin manages to get the key to the slaves' shackles and frees them as requested. Once freed, the slaves throw Hammond to the ground.
Hammond recovers and tries to capture Robin with a trawl net but it only caught a clone made from Robin's Hana Hana Fruit powers. Robin then uses Cuerpo Fleur to make a clone on Hammond's back and grab his neck, while she holds Hammond's legs with multiple arms and performs a Double Clutch move, breaking Hammond's back.
After all the leaders of the New Fishman Pirates have been defeated, the Straw Hats look into the sky as Luffy tries to destroy Noah. When the Sea Kings appear and stop Noah from falling, saving the ship and the island at the same time, everyone on Fishman Island celebrates. Princess Shirahoshi brings a wounded Luffy to the Straw Hats, since Chopper can't move after using his Monster Point, Robin helps him move in order to save Luffy from blood loss.
[edit] An Important Secret Revealed and Departure
Afterwards, she attends the party at the palace in honor of their victory against the New Fishman Pirates and was seen drinking with the Minister of the Left. Later, she wished to talk with Neptune in private about the Poneglyph she read and about Joy Boy. Neptune tells her that Joy Boy was a human who lived during the Void Century and talks about the promise Joy Boy made with the Mermaid Princess during the that time. He goes on about the importance of Noah and how Joy Boy was unable to keep his side of the deal and sent the Poneglyph with an apology on it instead. Robin then tells Neptune about the Poneglyph she read on Sky Island two years ago about Poseidon and states that its location is Fishman Island. She then asks if the Mermaid Princess of the Void Century had a name and realizes that Poseidon is the Mermaid Princess's name, so Shirahoshi has inherited the name and powers of the ancient weapon. Robin and Neptune agree to not talk about this as should other pirates or the World Government find out, they would hunt her down and try using her for themselves. Unfortunately for them, Caribou had listened to their entire conversation.
As the party ends, Robin is seen sitting with her friends and talking to Keimi. Later when Luffy brings the news about him declaring war on Big Mom, everyone was shocked while Robin merely smiles.
Afterwards, when the people of Fishman Island came to bid farewell to the Straw Hats, Robin was curious about what Neptune and Minister of the Right were whispering about. Later, she again seems glad when Luffy decides to choose the route to the most dangerous island. When Luffy promises Shiroshoshi that he will take her to the surface the next time they meet, Robin and the other Straw Hats also promise Shirohoshi the same thing. After sailing away from Fishman Island, the Straw Hats cheer while they begin their journey to their next adventure.
On their way to New World, Straw Hats decides to fish some deep sea fishes for their welcoming party in New World. Later, Robin notices a White Storm which was sucking Sunny towards it and informed the crew about its dangers. Finally when the Straw Hats escaped the White Storm and enter the New World; Robin is seen among them remarking on the wild and strong winds on New World.
[edit] Arriving in the New World: Punk Hazard
Upon entering New World, the crew spots an island surrounded by a sea of flames. They then receive a distress call from someone who seems to be in trouble and supposedly resides on Punk Hazard Island. At first, Robin suspected that the call is a trap by the Marines, but Luffy decides to go to the island anyway. Later on, Luffy and a small group (including Robin, Zoro and Usopp) chosen by picking straws went to explore the island. After disembarking, they felt the intense heat of the island and went deeper while observing the surroundings with Zoro and Robin wondering about the area being a former World Government base or locked up and closed off due to the extreme heat. She wonders why the log pose did not point to this place. Later, they came across a mysterious Dragon that is supposedly capable of communicating with human. After the dragon is cleaved by Zoro, Luffy reveals a pair of legs stuck on the dragon and pulls them off only to see it was just a pair of legs to begin with. The group, except Robin and Zoro, are further shocked to see that the pair of legs can move on its own and talk, making the group realize that the voices they heard didn't came from the dragon. The legs take off in pursuit of a Shichibukai.
After the group cuts up and eats the dragon meat and takes the rest with them, they continue their expedition. Luffy decides to play with the legs, placing them on his back and pretending to be a centaur. Robin comments on how vulgar Luffy is. Zoro then draws the group's attention to a remarkable sight: a lake separating the flaming half of the island from a frozen, mountainous region on the other half. Usopp then sights a humanoid figure with wings.
Luffy's group then recieves a call from Brook, who informs them that the Sunny has been taken to the frozen side of the island and that the other Straw Hats went missing. After Luffy and Robin defeat two centaurs, the group decides to go to the frozen side of the island. To cross the lake, Usopp forms a boat from Pop Greens. While the group rides on the boat, the centaur that Luffy had just fought jumps after them and informs his boss that the pirates are heading his way. The four Straw Hats then see a group of centaurs waiting for them on the other side.

[edit] Anime and Manga Differences
There is a slight difference between Robin in anime and manga. The anime Robin has blue eyes, but in manga Robin's eyes are brown. One Piece: Unlimited Adventure, One Piece: Unlimited Cruise, Gigant Battle and One Piece: Strong World still follow Robin's manga eyes version. In the anime adaption, several boys are seen throwing apples at her, yet in the manga they throw rocks.
Robin's adventure in Tequila Wolf is extended in the anime. After Robin landed there, she met and befriends a girl named Soran. Also in the anime, Robin attacked some of the guards before she gave herself up to spare Soran from punishment. Instead of somehow escaping surveillance as shown in the manga, Robin was freed by Soran and a Revolutionary agent.
[edit] Translation and Dub Issues
Her attack "Cinco Fleur" contains the Spanish word, "Cinco" which means five. This is similar to the Japanese word "Chinko" (a part of the male genitals). The word was brought up by a confused fan in one SBS who questioned why Oda used the word.[31] As stated previously, her attacks contain a number in Spanish, although Oda remarked that having her attack the male genitals area was brilliant, which he later used as a way to make Franky join the crew.
In the 4Kids dub, Robin receives the same treatment as many other female characters such as Nami and Miss Doublefinger. Her cleavage is often removed or an undershirt added to hide her chest. Sometimes the editors switch between the two in different shots leading to inconsistency. She was given a southern accent to go with her cowgirl hat. In the FUNimation edited dub, she no longer has the accent, and occasionally refers to the crew by their names instead of their titles. However, in the Funimation uncut dub and the English version of One Piece: Unlimited Adventure she still calls the crew (except Luffy) by their titles, although the game takes place after Enies Lobby, and Robin recalls the Straw Hats taking her in and giving her a reason to live.

When the Wii game One Piece: Unlimited Adventure was released Robin was one of the crew produced as a figure in the One Piece Locations Trading Figures series. She featured in was the One Piece Full Color R Gashapon series.
She also featured in the One Piece Monkey Island Mascot Keychain/Cellphone strap series. In the keychain version she was paired with Zoro, however in the cellphone strap version she was issued alongside Sanji.
